Tea consumption and prostate cancer

Tea is supposed to have chemo-preventive effect against various cancers. However, the protective role of tea in prostate cancer is still controversial. The aim of this study is to elucidate (explain) the association between tea consumption and prostate cancer risk by meta-analysis.

Methods

A total of 21 published articles were retrieved via both computerized searches and review of references…

Results

No statistical significance was detected between tea consumption and prostate cancer risk in meta-analysis of all included studies...Only the case–control study subgroup demonstrated a borderline protective effect for tea consumption against prostate cancer...

Conclusion

Our analyses did not support the conclusion that tea consumption could reduce prostate cancer risk. Further epidemiology studies are needed.

The recurrence of H. pylori infection

The rate of H. pylori recurrence after eradication of the microorganism seems to be relatively low, at least in developed countries, where the mean annual reinfection rate is of approximately 3% per patient-year of follow-up, although the risk of reinfection in some developing regions is considerably higher. Several findings suggest that recrudescence (復發) rather than reinfection is likely to be responsible for most cases of recurrence: (i) the recurrences decrease with time and decline sharply after the first year, and (ii) studies using molecular fingerprinting techniques (polymerase chain reaction) confirm that the identified microorganisms (before and after therapy) are usually genetically identical. 做好本份

商務四間大學店會裁員，我都可能有份，原因是高層表示生意差。主管星期五到店說大學店以後沒有後場這一個職位，即是我的職位。早會後主管單獨和我傾店長現在安排了什麼工作給我，她又吩咐我盡量想辦法可以怎樣快些完成工作。我現在負責單據整理、紀念品銷售、港版國版美版雜誌售賣、壞書處理，還有Cengage退貨等我完成。負責管理的書籍分類有醫藥衛生(但當中的中醫學書不是我的專業)、文娛體育、生活百科、地理旅遊、兒童讀物。除此之外，還有不少瑣碎的工作。

近來對面咖啡廳 裝修，又正值暑假，人流少，店長安排一個人企收銀，我現在除了轉批(替客人轉書)，大部分時間收錢埋數，一邊收銀一邊拆貨，其他同事不用收銀就代替我退貨。我又衰做野慢，沒定時入旅遊書，生活百科書類又很久沒退，令書籍流轉率下降，然而舊書屯積可不是我一人形成，之前我也有幫忙退聯合物流、台版、街貨(港版)、McGraw Hill及John Wiley 的書籍，出了不少汗馬功勞。根據一位資深同事所說，英文部太著重customer service, 退貨同樣出現問題，今天英文部同事仍在請兩星期來一次的中文書專員幫忙退貨。臨危受命的中文部同事，想搬一箱大概五公斤貨件上板車，推開五米的距離，也要我幫忙。店長對於接觸不良的掃瞄器也束手無策，亦要我幫忙。

其實現在中大店多了一個文具部兼職，但九月她大部分時間會上學。之前店長問我會否願意轉到文具部幫忙，我對他說我比較鍾情於書本銷售。可能這是增加一位兼職的原因，可能這是我有機會被裁走的原因。這二天，有一位資深員工對我說話的語氣比平時有很大反差，又意味著什麼...... 星期五的轉批量比平時多一倍，連累店長遲走爽約，他會在下星期與HR開會，也是裁走我的一個原因吧!但相信店長不會那麼小氣，不會著眼在單一事件上。

雖然我這個閒人沒有什麼用處，開學沒有我都頗麻煩。相信HR不會那麼聰明在開學前開火。依我觀察，主管還未決定裁走誰，能做的只有做好本份。

醫學的進步能延長人的壽命。
但當疾病到了末期的時候，人還會相信奇蹟嗎?
病人本身的痛苦，以至家人的苦痛，可以不理會嗎?
在這個情況下，醫護人員的工作會否是徒然。
婆婆去世前有腸癌，要靠嗎啡 (morphine) 止痛。
老人病房 (geriatric ward) 內的病人蓋著眼生活，活得有意義嗎?
雖然香港還未有安樂死 (euthanasia)，但至少也有以下三種制度︰

「預設醫療指示」 (Advance Directive)，又稱「生前預囑」 (living will)，是一項有關健康護理的選擇，通常以書面作出陳述，目的是讓自己在精神上有能力作出決定時，指明自己一旦無能力作決定的時候，所希望接受的健康護理形式，例如在面臨生命即將結束時不施行心肺復甦，讓病者自然死去。

我在同事間的 WhatApps group 內寫了這段文字︰「是日問題討論，當你就快收完一位客人嘅銀兩時，另一個外籍客叫你搵多個同事出黎收錢，你會點處理？」
只是直接憶述個案，方便之後的闡述，沒歧視成份。
只是沒有 proofread 就 sent 了出去。
其中一位女同事立刻在 WhatApps 說我是 racist (種族主義者)。

指控太過份了吧!
我的年紀可能比她輕，但閱歷大概比她多，根本不需要她突如其來的教訓。
再一次證明職位高不代表什麼，自以為成熟然後去教訓人只會惹人討厭。

二十年前的通行證

二十年前，我是博愛醫院歷屆總理聯誼會鄭任安夫人學校(下午校)小六學生。

當時的身份是一名童軍，當日的任務是列隊歡迎董伯伯。

學生照內的自己沒有戴眼鏡，看上去呆呆沒笑容，還有一雙蝌蚪眼。

現在，很多年輕人不喜歡內地人，痛恨內地政權。

但是，我都要重申一次，內地人都有很多種。
