今天氣溫大概是攝氏二十九度。
我洗澡調較的溫度是三十七度。
先不論熱水爐的溫度是否正確，
37 - 29 = 8
本人覺得自己已經不太環保，
奈何已經習慣以溫水淋浴。

Message from Professor Xiang Zhang
Dear colleagues, students, alumni and friends,
I hope you are enjoying a nice summer. I am very pleased to begin my role as the 16th President and Vice-Chancellor at HKU and am looking forward to meeting the University community. It is my privilege to serve this great institution. In the coming weeks and months, I will be taking the necessary time to meet and listen to you, and I wish to work closely with you.
Let me first thank Professor Paul Tam and the Senior Management Team for their leadership and support during the transition period. Indeed, I am grateful to all colleagues who have helped HKU continue our operations and endeavours seamlessly over the past few months.
HKU has outstanding students, faculty, staff and alumni who have contributed significantly to the prosperity of Hong Kong and beyond. My experience allows me to appreciate the great potential of HKU. I believe and have confidence in the University because of the many distinctive strengths of the University that I have seen, such as our unique history and culture; our excellence in teaching and learning, in research, and in knowledge exchange; the great diversity and vibrancy on campus; the dedication of our staff, students and alumni; and broad support from the community.
As you all know, in the 21st century, higher education faces tremendous challenges in preparing our students for success as future leaders in a rapidly changing world. I also see the many challenges that we may face here, such as those arising from limited resources and global competition. But there are many opportunities when we look beyond HKU and Hong Kong. I am pleased to see the recent willingness of the HKSAR Government to invest more in research, and the growing culture of educational innovation and nurturing entrepreneurship.
I envision HKU as a leading global university that not only inspires our next generation of leaders but will also lead in intellectual, economic and societal transformations in greater China, Asia and the world. For that, we must be visionary, innovative and bold. Exceptional academic scholarship is key. We must aggressively recruit and retain the best faculty members from all over the world. waste of time
其實，板主都好想了解一下母親現在看著什麼樣的無線節目。
什麼 Big Big Channel? 什麼 Big Big Shop?
人生光陰有限，房中的我也是聽聽罷了。
上個禮拜，阿媽說要看無線新聞，不讓我觀看世界盃。
好在我不是足球發燒友。
當母親大人仍然認為無線新聞神聖不可侵犯，
而她又看不懂區生本書的時候，都是由她吧。
雖然她時常看新聞，但對很多新聞資訊都不甚了解。

板主當年於課室內大聲打噴嚏，可能是她對我最深刻的回憶。

對我來說，當年的單車迷路記，是我們之間最深刻的回憶。
當年一大伙中同去大埔踏單車，遇上脫離主車群的她。
雖然我都是不熟路，但順利誤打誤撞帶她返回大隊。
當她處於單身時，我曾經以電郵追求她。
雖然我知道成功的機會是零，但只想表達給她，我對她的欣賞。
開始時，她不時在百忙中回覆我。
爸爸說她是出於禮貌才回覆。
當時正值鬱躁症病發的我，海量的電郵形成一種騷擾。
亦曾經因為一封語氣過份的電郵 (我記得是病發前)，讓她對我失望。
直到她正考慮是否與舊男朋友復合，交流完結。
現為人母的她，致力推廣健康飲食。
同時她又為育兒而孜孜不倦地學習。
近年每逢她的生辰，我都會以圖片和寥寥一句祝福她。
也是我保持攝影興趣的一種動力吧。
她不會已讀不回 LOL.
要找一個比她好的女生不容易，
但愛情不應有太多的比較。

Six-year molars

太極為題
小時候，筆者曾經跟隨老師父學習吳家太極。
因為浸淫日子不久，學到的只屬皮毛。
他沒有在每一個細節上嚴正執拳，
認為要讓我先培養興趣。
他曾對我說過一個重點︰目光要跟著移動中的手部。
與老師父練習推手時，我曾經感覺不到他的力從何來。
單以目測一定看不到，用手感應相信亦要經過長時間訓練。
父母也懂得耍太極，老師父仙遊後爸爸也指導過我一段時間。
雖則如此，本人也只是懂得耍全套太極的四分之一。
很多地方仍然需要修正改善，所以沒打算在短期內學習新招式。
耍太極時需要專心一致，不可以有任何雜念。
如果做不到心無旁騖，很容易耍錯，要重頭再來。
雖然小弟沒有什麼才幹，但確信大隱可隱於市。
要修行，何必入深山閉關。
小時，父母問過家姐學不學。
家姐覺得太極拳老土，要求先學太極劍。
劍是拳是伸延，先學劍是未學行先學走。
到現在，小弟雖然重六十多公斤，但步履比她輕盈得多。

P.S. 老師父教授太極時，指出手肘不可以伸直，要微曲。
原因是避免在搏鬥時被對方屈手肘。

再講新同事壞話

翌日，他問我有沒有見過，見微知著。
他做任何事都覺麻煩，還要每天都跟我說兩三次。
處理客訂可能很煩、很困擾他，但這正是中文部的工作。
我便對他說，每月要寫的報告更煩。
真心讚美還是阿諛奉承，我還分得出。
他見我沉靜，說我似是大智若愚。
我告訴他，大智慧就冇，小聰明倒是有的。
我求學時期數學是不錯的，但都是計得比較慢。
跟著他對我說高階數學不用講求速度。
真想對他道︰No City For Slow Men.
整體來說，他的負能量很重。
對他的印象最深刻是狂草。
一個人的筆跡反映到一個人是怎樣。
現時與他的關係仍屬良好。

我看到的是婆孫一入書店拍了張照，
和另外一位同事商量後都覺得可以酌情處理。
店內有兩三級樓梯，小女孩爬上爬下，
但有婆婆的照顧，沒大問題。
行動升級，小女孩在玩排隊柱，我立刻上前照料。
以上所說都是書店日常，以下所講才是無稽之事。
有個憤怒大叔向新同事投訴小女孩影響他看書。
同事點左個客去收銀處叫我解決解決……
大叔對我說︰「這裡是圖書館……給人靜靜看書的地方。」
又道︰「她在書店擾擾攘攘了半小時，你應該禮貌請她離開，這裡不是遊樂場。」
當時我很奇怪，因為我完全聽不小女孩在尖叫，何來影響閱讀？
大叔怒火中燒，小弟不敢火上加油，
正想 call back up，但婆孩兩人已準備離開。

復活島的故事
兒時，板主曾經在圖書館閱讀過一本有關復活島的故事書。故事講述島民為了運輸石像、開墾土地耕作、造船出海捕獵而大量砍伐樹木。伐木導致水土流失，農作物嚴重失收。木材緊張，自然無法造船出海覓食。島上及岸邊的動物不足果腹，最後文明沒落。
其實，復活島猶如迷你地球村。復活島是孤島，地球在宇宙中是孤立的行星。伐木導致沙漠化，溫室效應引致陸地淹沒，適合居住的土地越來越少。氣候反常，人禍多於天災。每個人都依賴電子產品，沒有嚴格監控下開採稀土，農作物受到污染，直接影響人民健康。人類大量使用石油，塑膠正是石油副產品。海洋生物體內滿是塑膠，人類是食物鏈上層，能置身事外？
看了這本故事書，小時候的我曾經夢想為地球、我們的家園出一份力量。JUPAS 選科時讓自己變得很綠色，並幻想以化學手段減排，後來卻因為成績欠佳不了了之。上年報讀 PolyU OT 不果，今年想報 UST 有關 sustainability 的科目，經資料搜集後發現要有 Maths 底。大事不成，唯有在小事著手，譬如在書店多用環保紙。

honey and metal
It is a popular marketing myth that metal spoon will spoil honey. Most people would suggest not to use a metal spoon as honey has an acidic pH and reacts with metallic surface. This is true as the reaction may damage and reduce the healing properties of honey.

對新同事的印象
因為有一位同事離職，公司請了另一個同事負責中文部。
新同事到職一星期，我對他的 first impression 是負面的。
剛到職時，店長先吩咐他拆貨。
看來簡單的工作，初來乍到，必要先熟習。
他曾問過我︰「我到職前，拆貨是你負責的嗎？」
我回答他︰「這項工作每位同事都會做，有時店長也會親自幹。
正值暑假，客人不多，我亦會一邊收銀一邊拆貨。」
他又對我說︰「真不想逐本點，真想直接上架。」
心想︰書這麼多，副主任都會分擔拆貨工作，不應有諸多怨言。
我們會以發票點貨，ISBN、書名、數量對的話就在發票畫剔。
他用紅筆畫剔號不緊要、用狂草剔也不緊要、剔漏賴貨多亦不緊要，
點貨後以及在電腦「收貨」後沒見他簽署才是問題所在，相信店長有跟他提過。
因為盤點後要處理大量客訂文具，我也要幫忙拆文具貨。
他見我點文具貨品，又問我是不是文具部，嬲左。
他一見到某貨箱是文具貨，他便跟我說「即係唔關我事」。
點文具不太困難，不懂點貨也不是什麼錯，錯的是態度。
他還有個壞習慣，便是喜歡「Un」腳。
不管在家是大少與否，工作時「Un」腳，對顧客的印象會有所損。
他與很多人都一樣，工作時明目張膽看手機。
他也不是一無是處，身為一個讀書人，他喜愛閱讀。
短短一星期，他已經用我 account 買了一本書。
他也願意聆聽同事的提點，是否有改進就要拭目以待。
有一奇怪之處，公司對中文部的要求比較高。
但是他的職位只屬助理，那可能就是他覺得懷才不遇、充滿負能量的緣故。

他曾問過我︰「我到職前，拆貨是你負責的嗎？」
我回答他︰「這項工作每位同事都會做，有時店長也會親自幹。
正值暑假，客人不多，我亦會一邊收銀一邊拆貨。」
他又對我說︰「真不想逐本點，真想直接上架。」
心想︰書這麼多，副主任都會分擔拆貨工作，不應有諸多怨言。
我們會以發票點貨，ISBN、書名、數量對的話就在發票畫剔。
他用紅筆畫剔號不緊要、用狂草剔也不緊要、剔漏賴貨多亦不緊要，
點貨後以及在電腦「收貨」後沒見他簽署才是問題所在，相信店長有跟他提過。
因為盤點後要處理大量客訂文具，我也要幫忙拆文具貨。
他見我點文具貨品，又問我是不是文具部，嬲左。
他一見到某貨箱是文具貨，他便跟我說「即係唔關我事」。
點文具不太困難，不懂點貨也不是什麼錯，錯的是態度。
他還有個壞習慣，便是喜歡「Un」腳。
不管在家是大少與否，工作時「Un」腳，對顧客的印象會有所損。
他與很多人都一樣，工作時明目張膽看手機。
他也不是一無是處，身為一個讀書人，他喜愛閱讀。
短短一星期，他已經用我 account 買了一本書。
他也願意聆聽同事的提點，是否有改進就要拭目以待。
有一奇怪之處，公司對中文部的要求比較高。
但是他的職位只屬助理，那可能就是他覺得懷才不遇、充滿負能量的緣故。

Ketones (酮) are released into the blood and provide an important energy source during prolonged fasting for many tissues, including those of the nervous system...The net result of fatty acid and ketone utilization during fasting is the provision of energy for the body while at the same time sparing glucose for the brain and nervous system. old saying
她想了很久才想到那句諺語——讀萬卷書不如行萬里路。
她好像忘記了上一次兩老往內地旅遊，她是坐輪椅返港的，爸爸狼狽非常。
我是沒有興趣一個子四處闖，個人喜愛一伙人一齊逛，一家人一起走更佳。
還是等候父親退休才一起去吧！我有氣力，他有出國經驗。
「讀萬卷書不如行萬里路」
板主覺得兩者都重要。
只讀書，只在網路遊走，可知天下事，但不往外走會抱憾終生。
行萬里路，走前不看看lonely planet，不了解各國歷史，只會是走馬看花，最多只能看景散心。

21 years already
真正愛港的人，不多。
真切愛國的香港人，更少。
愛國等於愛黨，不敢苟同。
被殖民，是恥辱。
雖然英國給予我們不錯的制度，
而中國正慢慢改變對香港的統治模式，
但港人不得不承認自己是中國人。
所以本人選擇愛國不愛黨，
愛的是中國某部分的優良文化。
