Specific Heat Capacity

The heat capacity of freshwater is 4.182 J/g°C, while the heat capacity of seawater (with a practical salinity unit, or psu, of 35) is slightly lower at 3.993 J/g°C. This means that, given the same amount of heat, seawater will heat up slightly faster than freshwater.
