HKU as a heritage

Loke Yew Hall is a graceful Renaissance-style building which has become a symbol of the university as a whole. It is named after an overseas Chinese benefactor (贊助人) who operated tin mines in Malaya (馬來亞).

Eliot Hall and May Hall are red-brick student hostels (宿舍) that built in 1914 and 1915, and were pressed into service as emergency hospitals during the Japanese invasion in 1941.
