The First United Front, also known as the KMT–CPC Alliance, was formed in 1924 as an alliance to end warlordism in China.
The Second United Front was the alliance between KMT and CPC to resist the Japanese invasion during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
After the column's repatriation to Yantai, Shandong, in June 1946, the Liaison Office was renamed the Hong Kong Branch of the Xinhua News Agency, headed by Huang Zuomei and subsequently by Qiao Guanhua and his wife, Gong Peng, in 1947.
