The vaccine contains small pieces of viral messenger RNA, a molecule with
instructions for making proteins. Scientists pack the mRNA inside a slippery
pod made of lipids, so it can slide into the cells.
Once inside the cells, the mRNA finds ribosomes. A ribosome is a cellular particle made of RNA and protein that serves as the site for protein synthesis in the cell. The ribosome reads the sequence of the mRNA and, using the genetic code, translates the sequence of RNA bases into a sequence of amino acids.
Ribosomes start making SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins based on the
viral mRNA. Spike proteins coat the surface of the virus and are harmless on their
own. They are considered a good vaccine target which is also called an antigen.
An immune cell perceives the spike proteins as if the body had been infected. It kicks off a sequence of events that result in the creation of antibodies and other defences.

疫苗注射前應否抽吸注射器

年輕人接種新冠疫苗後出現心肌炎，專家稱比例為每10萬人中有10人，大部分病情輕微。目前科興及復必泰疫苗均採用肌肉注射，港大專家袁國勇團隊以小鼠研究，發現以靜脈注射復必泰的小鼠，心包出現明顯白斑；而肌肉注射的小鼠沒上述情况。團隊稱現時注射前毋須先抽吸注射器，或令疫苗意外注射入靜脈，引發心肌炎或心包炎，建議注射前應抽吸注射器檢視，以確保針頭不會插入靜脈。
Needle aspiration is the process of pulling back on the syringe plunger prior to injection. Its purported (據稱的) importance is to prevent accidental entry of the needle into a blood vessel, but there is no scientific evidence to support its need. The most recent guidelines published by the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that aspiration prior to intramuscular vaccination may not be necessary, while the Canadian guidelines continue to recommend aspiration. It is not surprising therefore that both techniques are currently being used by vaccinators.

自私與傲慢
顧客F︰「我想找這一本關於鸚鵡的書。」
筆者︰「電腦顯示有，我找一找。」
我在書架和抽屜找不到。
我說︰「抱歉，找不到。」
顧客F︰「這裡有那麼多個抽屜，你需要再找一找嗎？」
顧客F的兒子︰「這一本也是介紹飼養鸚鵡。」
顧客F對他的兒子說︰「不是這一本，不一樣的。」
顧客F道︰「那麼這一本關於建築的有沒有？」
店員(我)︰「後面有其他客人等著付款，可否到後面顧客服務處，有同事可以幫你。」
F不客氣道︰「我都站在你面前，為何不幫我查？」
顧客K︰「不打緊，先幫他找。」
我查電腦後對F說︰「分店會有，最好打電話查詢。」
F拿著兒子的鸚鵡書問道︰「今日是會員優惠日，這一本有折扣嗎？」
店員︰「今天基本會員買圖書有九折，但要先下載會員應用程式。」
顧客F離開收銀處一會。
顧客K付款時都對F有點不滿，冷言兩句。
完成兩三宗交易後，K在排隊付款位置按手機。
顧客G對F說︰「你是否正在排隊？」
F一聲不說離開排隊位置。
我對同事R說︰「我去吃飯，這裡交給你。」
最終有沒有完成交易不知道，只是覺得F連基本禮貌也不懂。
吃飯時與同事Y說起此事。
同事Y說︰「你應該叫同事R由顧客服務處走到收銀處幫助他，人家行一米都嫌遠。」
